Re: Spectre
Yes. Quantum of Solace was fucked from the off due to the writers strike. The rest have all been very good, albeit i would place SPECTRE as he weakest of the three.

Re: Spectre
I know we all enjoy the comparison game but it is, actually, redundant to do so. The Connnery years were affected by the Cold War era; the 70s and 80s with Moore demanded a lighter tone as audiences were not in the mindset to taking the super spy genre seriously any more; the Dalton years were more prudish due to the attention to AIDS, Craig's run has seen Bind having to fit in a edgier, darker and more uncertain world. That said, what you can compare is production values and artistic flair and on that alone, leaving aside QOS, the Criag films have truly stepped it up from its predecessors.

Re: Spectre
Talked about going to the cinema today with the missus and me 13 year old girl... she wants to see Hotel Transyvania 2 and I want to see Spectre

Me: "Look no point me going to see Hotel Transylvania 2 as not seen the first one"
Daughter: "Well there's no point me seeing Spectre as not seen the other 30 James Bond films"

Looks like the missus and the kid are seeing HT2 then !!

Re: Spectre
Just got back. It had all the typical Bond stuff, wth the women and the baddis and the car. Lots of stuff going on - you'd expect that in a 2 1/2 hour long film, including the classic fight on the train and baddies big hide out. They seemed to want to try to hang all the Craig films together via this spectre thread, which really was pretty weak. That fact, plus the fact they're entering comic book territory with MI6 rubble and some completely fake new information ministry opposite it suggests it's time for the reset button on this. Craig driving off into the morning sun in a DB4 with a bird suggests to me he's done, as is this mini Bond within a Bond series.

Plus point for me is that the supporting cast in terms of M, Q and Moneypenny is tight and will aid transition of a new Bond. And Christolph Waltz can really make something out f the Blofeld character. He reminded me of Gene Wilder in Charlie rand the chocolate factory, funny and sinister and importantly still alive to keep going.

Re: Spectre
Johnny and ludo agree about Spectre, it went away from Craig's earlier edgy Bond and back to the earlier formats of Bond, the gadgets in the Aston, walks away with the girl and bringing back Blofeld as the arch enemy

I really enjoyed it and lasted the whole 3 hours without needing a piss which is a feat at my age

Re: Spectre
Wouldnt say it's the best Bond ever but i don't think you can compare across generations ... some things age but doesnt make them still very good.

I would agree that it's Craig's best though ... felt much more like a Bond without trying to be Bourne.... really enjoyed it

Saw it last night and it is very good... best Bond film so far. Not too gimmicky, long at 2hr 30 but kept your attention throughout.... would recommend.
